The Career Consultants of Texas is actively searching for a qualified Legal Assistant/Secretary with substantial experience and motivation to join the expanding team of a reputable nationwide personal injury firm.
We are looking for a professional and organized self-starter with a minimum of 5 years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience, including hands-on courtroom trial exposure. The ideal candidate should possess a proactive work ethic, the ability to anticipate needs, strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, flexibility in scheduling, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic legal environment. Essential attributes include strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
In this role, you will primarily work under the guidance of assigned Attorneys and/or Paralegals to efficiently address firm and client requirements. Responsibilities encompass managing multiple substantial cases in state and federal courts, including those in different states. The position involves providing comprehensive support for attorneys throughout the litigation process, including assistance in discovery, motion practice, hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations. The successful candidate must be available for overtime, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of plaintiff’s personal injury litigation practices, including familiarity with court practices, requirements, and deadlines in both state and federal jurisdictions.
- Demonstrate the ability to guide a new case from filing to trial.
- Draft various legal documents, such as petitions, answers, discovery materials, motions, pre-trial motions, legal memoranda, waivers, memos, case briefs, request medical records, Rule 11 agreements, settlements, and client correspondence.
- Compile deposition and trial notebooks, conduct client interviews, manage pleadings, motions, depositions, investigations, mediation settlements, and exhibit proficiency in all phases of the discovery process.
- Prepare letters of protection (LOPs) and maintain communication with medical providers and lienholders.
- Ensure accurate proofreading and formatting of all materials.
- Collaborate with other Paralegals within assigned teams to meet firm and client objectives efficiently.
- Organize and prioritize workload to facilitate team efforts in accomplishing firm and client goals.
- Uphold professionalism by adhering to all firm policies, including attendance guidelines, dress code, security measures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Manage confidential information with discretion.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Personal Injury on the Plaintiff side is mandatory.
- Bilingualism is preferred.
- In-office work is required; hybrid schedules are not offered.
- Demonstrated tenure with past employers.
- Willingness and ability to travel for trial purposes.
- Overtime is a requirement.
